Old Man Winter’s almost dead.
By Kristen | March 25, 2008
So far, more than half of you responded to this month’s poll saying this winter was worse than last year.
I know here in NYC, this past winter was just so… gray. An all the color had been drained out of the world kind of gray. I think the fact that there was no snow didn’t help. An overcast sun reflecting off white snow (or even the week-old not-so-white snow) is still brighter than no snow at all.
So… why did your winter suck this year?
Lastly, a postscript:
In an effort to make this post more than just text, I did the following Google images search: +March +”in like a lion” +”out like a lamb”
On the second page of results, I found this:

I can think of nothing more to add.

The same reason as yours, really. I don’t mind cold, I don’t really mind snow, but endless gray… just, ugh.
I was also wresting with some who-am-I-and-what-do-I-want-from-my-life angst, and had a death in the family, but, really, the general bleakness made all that worse.

Jeezus, Cheryl took the words right out of my mouth. Right down to the angst part.

Although Santa Fe is the state capitol, we are a small town. (70,000 year-round residents, they say)
As such, our city budget is small. The amount of money they have for snow removal is small. The amount of education they have about how to properly maintain roads (wet or dry, summer or winter) is small. So when we get snow, the city is crippled. We have had a lot of snow this winter.
Family stuff has been sucky in a manner so off-the-charts Jerry Springerish that I daren’t even specify.

The grayness about did me in. It persists, but it’s warmer so I can handle it.
And the rain. Dear god, the rain.

Being able to go outside without a hat recently has me downright giddy.

Because it refuses to end!!!!!! We just got back last night froma beautiful trip to Denver where it was sunny and warm (yes, warm! like low 70’s kind of warm!!!) and then once we crossed back into Wyoming it started freaking snowing! Now I’m at home and I refuse to even get dressed because there’s like 3′ of snow on the ground and it’s currently 14 degrees. Please make it stop now…
