From their site:

This recycled rice bag is great for laundry day, shopping or a day at the beach. This bag comes in great colors and are sure to be a conversation piece! It measures 16 inches tall by 20 inches wide with the base measuring 13 inches across. They are practically indestructible. Made with fair trade practices and produced by Cambodian weavers; many of whom are disadvantaged female heads of households.

Also available as a smaller tote, a messenger bag, and a small purse — and all $30 or less. What’s not to love?

  1. That seems to be the thing, now, and it’s a race to see who can produce the most interesting rice bag. I got my niece a little sundress made out of a flour sack, with a little printed chick in the center and everything. It was an especially cunning job.

  2. Great link, thanks! We’re :this close: to having plastic grocery bags outlawed around here (they should be, they suck) and I’ve been looking for something festive to shlep our food in. My husband does most of the food shopping and cooking so I’m not sure he’s gonna share the love on the flowered tote I just bought him but, oh well. It won’t be the first time I made the poor man look ridiculous. Probably won’t be the last, either.
