I made a thing!

finished product

A couple Christmases ago, I decided I was going to hand-make gifts for the family members I didn’t really know what to buy. Well, it SEEMED like a good idea but then I had so many other things to do that I just ended up buying stuff anyway, so the half-done projects went in the embroidery box and have been sitting there ever since.

This pillow started out as the skirt of a kid-sized apron (while the intended recipient has already long since grown out of the pretend-tea-parties phase). I took this piece out of the box to get at something else underneath and while it was sitting on the couch, I thought it looked pretty good there, so I sewed it up and stuffed it. It’s a smidge lumpy (I have taken to calling it Lumpy Space Pillow) but I think it’ll shift around soon enough.

Meanwhile, I’m so pleased with this little project that I’ve put in requests for Scandinavian Stitches: 21 Playful Projects with Seasonal Flair AND Embroidery Companion: Classic Designs for Modern Living at my library.

  1. Totally charming! Unfortunately for me, most of my projects are food related. If I pull something out of a box months later, it’s usually a science experiment by then.
