Sunday, May 6th, 2007On this day in 1935, the Works Progress Administration began operating. In addition to building roads and dams, the WPA would eventually create America Eats: a food history project documenting regional food traditions and written in part by Nelson Algren, Saul Bellow, Richard Wright, and Zora Neale Hurston.
